For grades K-12 we offer Pet Safety and Awareness classes. These classes share important information on the responsibilities of having a pet. Safety when approaching pets and basic care skills.
Our adult classes we currently offer classes at Rio Salado RISE program and the Explore program at Sun City West Lecture Hall. We discuss several topics such as; choosing a new pet, basic first aide, recognizing signs of illness, basic CPR, how to help senior pets, available resources and an introduction to our neighbor-to-neighbor fostering program
For continued crisis prevention we offer pet CPR classes. These classes are offered quarterly and are given by a certified instructor for a small fee. Our fosters and volunteers receive this training at no charge.
These programs help us to reach numerous citizens within our community and provide awareness of the need for our shelter in the city of Surprise. The classes help remind pet owners of accountability and responsibility of being a pet owner. They also empower the citizens to care for their pets during an illness long enough to get them to an emergency veterinarian.
All of these classes are available upon request with a minimum of 15 participants and locations must be in the Surprise and Sun City areas. If you are interested in Chance Shelter coming to do a class for your group please send information to [email protected].
